Marla's image...

A few years ago i brought Marla Baggetta to Cape Breton for a 3 day workshop.  It was amazing and i learned so much.   In the past year she has put out a double dvd set basically putting the workshop we took onto dvd.   What a treat to be able to sit in my office/studio and watch how she uses pastels, but also to be reminded of all the other pieces of information and wisdom she imparts.   She suggests doing many exercises, one of which is copying her "100 variations" composition and doing your own thing!   So i've had a great afternoon, while it has rained steadily all day....watching, learning and doing a bit of practicing!   It's always a bit tricky copying another artists composition...but i just so enjoy the putting down of colours - especially on the sanded paper, makes such a neat sound!

In the extras:   Screen shot of Marla painting, and a shot of the poster she had created out of the 100 variations she did.   Since doing that exercise she has apparently done this composition over 300 times!  i guess i have a long way to go....i think this might be the 3rd time i've tried it!
