Common Enchantments

Moving day

When we drove out this morning on our way to the national forest to hike, the "sight" was before us.  We think they were moved from up the road a ways where the ranchers can "free range" the cows on the public land all summer.   This herd was about 100 cows so we were lucky to be at the tail end of the drive.

The hike we did was along a portion of the Continental Divide Trail which runs from the Mexican border to the Canadian Border, along the Rocky Mountains.  We hiked 4 miles roundtrip...at 10,000 feet (3,048 meters) elevation.  Going in was not too bad, 2 miles in, fairly level with some uphills.  But the fairly level areas were actually slight downhill so coming back out was mostly going uphill!!   It kicked my patootie!   But I made it!

Of course a nap in the car coming back to the house helped greatly!
A photo of the trail in the extras.
