Back blip - White Pelicans at Chase Lake, ND

"Chase Lake has one of the largest white pelican nesting colonies in North America." They nest on two large islands in Chase Lake and are protected by a large boundary that is off limits to people. Over 30,000 of these majestic birds have been counted at times. We felt blessed to find a few swimming in a smaller lake during our birding adventure today. Using a spotting scope in an observation area, we could see thousands of the birds at a distance. We also spotted many other birds and wildlife during our tour. Another good day of adventure including a road on the tour that led into a lake, cow stops too high for our car to cross, and that is just a snippet of our day.
