Spirals

I have a fascination with spirals, from snail shells to galaxies to staircases. Today Alex, Ben and I visited Lyveden New Bield where we sipped tea, sauntered around Tudor pleasure gardens (with spiral snail mounds - see extra), savoured ice-cream and surmounted this spiral staircase to survey the demesne through the skeletal windows of the unfinished lodge, which is imbued throughout with Catholic symbolism. Always a magical place, even with the relative plethora of other visitors.
