The Lost City of Z

Went to Torquay Museum for the unveiling of a plaque to Percy Fawcett - explorer. There is a permanent display about him here. His former home is long demolished so there was nowhere to put a blue plaque. He disappeared in 1925 in the uncharted jungles of Brazil looking for the Lost City of Z, the city known as 'El Dorado' by Spanish conquistadors. He was the inspiration for many fictional explorers ( Professor Challenger, Indiana Jones) and is a hero to everyone called Percy. Brad Pitt's Hollywood movie, The Lost City of Z, starring Charlie Hunnam and Siena Miller as Percy and Nina Fawcett is due for release soon. Percy is one of many famous Torquay explorers including the legendary Richard Burton.
