State Fair

For the first time ever John and I went to the Oregon State Fair in Salem today. We spent 8 hours wandering around, looking at the exhibits, talking to artisans, authors and vendors. I learned not to clean up cobwebs outside ( the main material for hummingbirds' nest construction) and in order to start woodcarving, all you need is a pocketknife, a pencil and wood. "You do carry a pocket knife, right?" the guy said to me. Sometimes giraffes kill a predator by laying down on them.
One of the most interesting things was watching the local sheriff's canine unit show their dogs' skills in police work. Looks like they have a blipper in the ranks too. Glad we went, it was good!
