Sally Mair - Loving life

By Sallymair

Famagusta

In the distance, you can see the skyline of Famagusta, deserted and fenced of since 1974 when the Turkish invasion happened. From being the centre of high living for well to do holiday makers and the jet set, it became a ghost town over night and has just been allowed to deteriorate. There is barbed wire and guards all around to make sure nobody goes on. Very sad. You can read about it in The Sunrise by Victoria Hislop.
We visited the area of the town which is still accessible on the Spring on our holiday to North Cyprus and Turkey.
