Arriving on the Field

Always a bit of a shenanigans to pack for a week on the Field - guitar, djembe, song and poetry books, journal, clothes for wet weather and hot weather, food and drink, camera... and so forth. Driving through the lanes with a little 1960s caravan and then, mid afternoon, arriving on a field in the rural middle of nowhere...familiar faces, arrays of tents and  caravans in circles and clover-leaf patterns...figuring out where I am going to put myself for the next week...wrestling with an ancient awning and offered timely help...and K offering me a cup of tea. It's all good. Seven o clock a meal together - most of us here now - wonderful food, such variety and abundance, and then a couple of hours friendly chatter and a few gentle songs around the fire before bed...
