Light and shade

The lighter evenings are suddenly shorter and darkness falls quickly after sunset.  The herons are staking out the estuary shore again, and here one flew in croaking and displaced another from its waterside stance.

Today a ten minute conversation in the late afternoon suddenly joined up  a lot of apparently random dots.  A picture is developing, but it isn't perfectly clear yet.  There is both reassurance and uncertainty in the coalescing narrative.
