Vimy Ridge

After dropping the girls off this morning, we headed off on our travels.

A tricky journey through Kent with the M20 closed in part but we got to the tunnel and cruised through to France. On the way down to our hotel stop we paused at Vimy Ridge, a Canadian cemetery and war memorial site. You can walk through the WW1 trenches and all around the ground was pockmarked by munition blasts. A very moving place - the blip shows  the beautiful memorial completed in 1936 and superbly maintained.

It was then back to the car to get some miles knocked off. We're staying overnight at the same hotel in Saint-Avold that we stayed in after our poor Triumph broke down on last year's Club Triumph 10 Countries run. Time to replace those bad memories with better ones - it's easier this time because we're in a car 35 years younger than the poor Triumph!
