Chateau Comtal

We will visit the chateau interior tomorrow morning but the outside provided my blip this evening, as we returned from dinner with Chris & George in the old cité. It's a beautiful medieval town, well restored and mostly tastefully done.

As we wandered across the old bridge we saw coypu swimming below in the Aude. They're sometimes called river rats; they have a long tail like a rat, a piggy snout and an otter-like body... not the most attractive if animals tbh, but fun to see. One, 'the daddy' was huge with a body of 60cm and a tail of 40cm. They're herbivore so the thriving numbers must mean the river water is clean. I will try to post an extra but it may have to be tomorrow.
