But, then again . . . . .

Flying to the Lure.

My last day with Sis, the first task was to collect Mrs TD from her tapestry weekend in Bristle, then we all returned to the bird of prey centre at Millet’s. We wiled away the time going round the various birds until Luke started the flying display with Robyn, his hand reared turkey vulture which, oddly enough, is not a bird of prey. We were then shown an owl of some sort, a saker falcon and a trio of yellow billed kites. The Blip is one of the two hundred or so pictures that I took of the display – many of which do not actually have a bird in the frame.
That over we had a spot of late lunch before returning to get our money’s worth, there we found Luke training some of the other birds and were able to watch him and even chat to him while he was working
I’ve always had a soft spot for the birds, I think it started with reading “Kes” many years ago, so I've have seen many demonstrations and been on a few trips and a holiday flying birds. This display was really excellent with Luke giving a running commentary and explaining about the birds all the time; in fact, one reason for rejecting pictures was his facial expressions as he was caught in mid-sentence.

Incidentally, Robyn finished her  performance by clouting me smartly round the back of my head in a fly past. I’m sure she didn’t mean it.
