We popped into the National Portrait Gallery for the BP Portrait of the Year Exhibition. Fantastic, as ever! The winner of the Travel Award was Petras by Laura Guoke. Petras is a Lithuanian, (great to support the homeland), and an Engineer and Taxidermist who has founded a Museum of Taxidermy in his home. What a great idea! The artist, Laura, will use her very modest winnings (come on BP, cough up a bit more!) to research, video, sketch, photograph & paint the most vulnerable Syrian refugees and volunteers on the Greek island of Lesbos. An even better idea. Great creativity, humanity, skill, joy, sorrow, love and friendship for all to see in this excellent exhibition.
