Goodbye Summer

A couple walks along the Boulevard Park Boardwalk with a spectacular sunset on the bay as a backdrop.

Quite a crowd had gathered to watch what, to me, felt like a sacred moment, as day gave way to night. After the sun set, a sliver of a moon hung in the deepening blue of the twilight.

Although I am not one for traveling during major holidays, this has been a delightful trip. Early on Connections invited to her home for some southern hospitality. We had an enjoyable, delicious and leisurely repast of local foods.

My son, grandson & I explored Point Whitehorn Marine Reserve located on the Georgia Strait shoreline, a few miles to the north in Blaine, WA. It was a fun walk through old growth forest to a shingled beach. We watched a variety of birds, including Great Blue Heron, Cormorants, ducks and gulls in Birch Bay. From the beach one can see the San Juan islands framing the view.

Tomorrow we will "gird our loins" for the long drive home through gridlocked Seattle with all the other holiday sojourners.
