quenda crossing...

...and this sub species (Isoodon obesulus fusciventer) of the southern brown bandicoot is thriving and digging!! in the gardens in our street.
So enthusiastic they are about wandering, and sadly they are not road savvy,these signs are popping up all over the shire.

About the size of a rabbit with a cone shaped nose (their diggings are equally cone shaped) Quenda ( from the Noongar word 'kwernt') are omniverous munching on insects, larvae,fungi (including native truffles) and some plant material.
Marsupials, they carry their littlies around in their pouch, a litter up to six babes though usually only one or two will survive to be weaned.
Book club buddy B has a tribe living in her garden and insistent they are about their evening visit to the patio with families in tow for a snack!

Every so often we see one darting through the garden...such a treat.
