Le Aguilles from Possettes

After yesterday's grim grey day the Alps worked their wonder and we were treated to a glorious day. Having missed out on Lac Blanc I wanted the group to get a good Chamonix day so we headed up onto the higher TMB variant of the Aguillettes des Possettes, one of the finest views in the  valley, it's a tough day by TMB standards, so we set out early in the  cool of the day.
The track climbs in well laid switchbacks up from Le Tour, and each zig and zag rewards your endeavour with views of ever increasing splendour. As we cleared the treeline around the 2000m contour we passed the inversion band of cloud that wrapped the valley sides giving a real sense of scale to the high peaks. Finally after three hours of climb we reached the always busy summit and found our own sheltered patch to stop and stare.
The view from here is 360° - with Mont Blanc the clients obvious choice of picture* -but I'm here often so have chosen this shot across the much receded Glacier du Tour to the Aguilles Chardonnet and Verte.

* the extra says it all.
