Kindertransport

This lovely statue in Liverpool Street Station commemorates the Kindertransport. Set up by Sir Nicholas Winterton, the Kindertransport, as it became known, was a rescue movement to bring Jewish children out of Germany and surrounding countries by train just before the outbreak of the second world war and settle them in England. The children came unattended.
There are two statues, a larger one with more children is placed just outside the station.
