Wax child

This extraordinary wax baby was in the very old Greek Orthodox church in Paralimni in Cyprus. The church is tiny and one of three in the square, parts of it date back to the 14th century. This boy candle, who is over a foot tall has a wick on the top of his head. We could only assume he was used as part of a prayer for  (boy) children?
