Just Friends? Or Star-Crossed Lovers?

It may have been one of those Romeo and Juliet tales; I'll never know for sure. But it was clear as day that they had a thing going on. The mallard cuddled up close to the turtle on the rock in the middle of the duck pond; they made quite a pair.

It was a hot summer's day, and everything was lush. Sunlight through leaves made green shimmers on the water. Orange fish swam slowly past, gawking at the pair. People sat by the duck pond, wasting time (or perhaps finally finding it).

On the rock, the two sat side by side. The duck, for his part, kept an eye on the turtle, and occasionally he tilted his head as though laughing at what must have been a very funny joke. They exchanged meaningful glances.

And so it was that seasons passed, but what was unchangeable could not be changed. What was meant to be would happen anyhow. Was it mere friendship? Or was it star-crossed love that broke out on a warm summer's afternoon, on the rock in the middle of the duck pond?

(One more shot of the happy couple appears in the extras. Let's wish them well, shall we?)

The soundtrack: Kenny Rogers, Daytime Friends and Nighttime Lovers.
