They were striding along with cigarettes in their mouths.

He was interested, she wasn't.

If her urgency hadn't overcome his curiosity they would have discovered that this 'drawing shed' (and a couple of others like it) represents the culmination of a brilliant year-long project called Coast Lines organised by a local young artist to get the whole community to try their hand at drawing - anything, anywhere. 
There have been drawing and sketching sessions outdoors and indoors: around the town, along the coast, up mountains, in parks, pubs, cafes, shops, schools, care homes  or wherever people get together. With drawing materials and sketch books handed out for free there's been no excuse not to get involved. The project has now come to an end and three of these little temporary sheds have been erected to show the results. (My younger son found the portrait he'd done of his brother.)

The idea was not to teach or to produce great art but to engage the community and enable people to get in touch with their creative side, whether or not they thought they had  one.  Just another of the wonderful initiatives that take place in this small out-of-the way corner of Wales.
