Leith Theatre - through the rectangular window

A sunny day for Edinburgh which allowed me to try and play with the light on the pillars against the dark background.

The building is Leith Theatre which was given as a gift to Leith by the citizens of Edinburgh in 1920 to mark the incorporation of the Burgh of Leith into Edinburgh. The theatre suffered bomb damage in 1941 and only reopened in 1961.

Since 1988 the building has been effectively closed although Leith Theatre Trust is currently in negotiations with the City Council to grant the Trust a 5 year licence over the theatre in order to develop a viable long term future for the disused complex.
