A Collector of Oddities

Ballers

Tonight we attended a ball in the City Chambers in honour of the Edinburgh Captain and Lass (seen here on the balcony). Brilliant night but with a few folk nursing mainly horse-related injuries!

The flag on the left is the Blue Blanket, a re-creation of the original, )it being somewhat fragile these days) which was carried from Flodden Field to Edinburgh by the Captain of the City Band with news of the defeat. 10, 000 Scots died, a stunning loss especially in 1513.

The history can be read here for those interested.

Here is the itinerary for the ride tomorrow. Do try to see some of this if you are in the area, it is so thrilling to have all the horses clattering up the Royal Mile.

We will be carrying Trades Banners which is very exciting.
