Der Moot

It looked like he'd been bitten by another cat - bald and bloody patches around his neck, like he'd been in a fight and as useless as I would be. 

So we took him to the local vet.

And here you can sit and do nothing for 2 hours exactly as happened at the vet's.

"Come at 10" they said. "We'll fit you in" they said.  2 hours later when the surgery was empty and they were going to close for the day, Moot saw the vet.

He hadn't been attacked, he'd been infected by harvest mites - another of those critters who lie in the grass and jump on passersby and make life miserable for them.

We have medication for him.  And he will get better.
