Sgwarnog: In the Field

Spiked

A new shieldbug for me today: this Spiked Shieldbug and a companion were perched on bracken at the edge of Baildon Moor.

In the village, it was the annual Scarecrow Walk. I didn't do the whole tour this year, but caught a few examples on the theme of nursery rhymes, like Miss Polly, with her dolly,  in the community garden (extras).

It was then over to Guiseley to see if the Lions could get their first win of the season against fellow strugglers Woking. For much of the afternoon it seemed that they might, deservedly taking the lead through Adam Boyes early in the second half and playing some good football. But the jitters set in, and Woking got a late equaliser. Still, that's two successive draws for Guiseley after seven successive defeats; hopefully confidence will start to grow and results improve. (See extras for Guiseley's Will Hatfield lining up a free kick in the second half.)
