Aoraki Mount Cook

My visitors came through Mackenzie country last week - but it was the day of cloud, rain and hail so they didn't see a lot of the area.  It seemed the best way to remedy that was to take them back up today to see all the sights in better light.

The day was stunning and Mt Cook made a strong and cloud free appearance.  We took a side road to photograph a slightly different perspective of the lake and mountain.  The front on view wasn't picking up the colour of the lake but you can see here that from the side the light was just right - I've made no adjustment to colour here.

For those of you who don't know Mt Cook, she is New Zealand's tallest mountain and can be seen right in the middle here looking over the lake.

We had discussed doing the loop and coming back through Kurow but neither of my visitors had been up to Mr John so we came back through Teakpo instead.  The views were stunning from the observatory too (as always).  See Lake Alexandrina in extras.
