Owain Glyndwr (1349 - 1416)

Today's the day .......................... to go on holiday

That's it then - we're off - as from today, we are officially on holiday!

Will had to go to a meeting en route but it was alright because it took us in the right direction. We are spending five days at the coast in North Wales in a little place which is new to both of us.

On the way we saw this statue of Owain Glyndwr - leader of a national revolt against English rule in Wales back in the early 1400s. He was proclaimed Prince of Wales by a Welsh parliament and he gained control over most of the country, winning battles and capturing castles. He summoned several parliaments, held an alliance with France, Ireland and Scotland and proposed an independent church and two universities for Wales.

When I was young, we lived in Wales for several years. I was in Glyndwr House in primary school and our House colour was green ..........................
