Commercialism

Read a report on the BBC website today going on about rampant commercialism and the the bomabrdment of the populace of London with adverts and commercial enticements.

Question is, is commercialism really that bad?

I also listened to "It says here" by Billy Bragg today, recorded in the early eighties, again, what's changed??
