Glasgow's Coat of Arms

'Let Glasgow Flourish by the preaching of the word' ..... words attributed to St Mungo. In Victorian times the city truncated its motto into the more secular 'Let Glasgow Flourish' which is still used today.

The Coat of Arms depicts ....
 the tree that never grew,
 the bird that never flew,
 the fish that never swam,
 the bell that never rang.

Anyone walking up Buchanan Street towards the Royal Concert Hall can't fail to see this copy of the emblem high up on the wall
