Mono Monday: Traditional

The small local ponds dotted around my area are what's left of an extensive system of freshwater lakes that once lay between the coast and the Darling Escarpment.

The traditional owners were the Noongar people who lived in harmony with the natural environment. Their social structure was focused on the family and family groups occupied distinct areas of Country. For the Noongar people in the Perth area the main source of food came from the wardan (ocean), the Swan River and the lakes.

The ibis now live in the paperbark trees on the little island in my local lake. It has a timeless quality to it and I tried to capture that in the image, a blue mono seemed to work for me.
