Monomonday "Traditional"

Tsampa bowl from Tibet
Another treasure from my travels, this bowl was destined for a local Bhuddist monastery where it would have been used to contain ground roast barley meal or tsampa. This forms the staple traditional diet in that part of the world. Our group stayed in the home of the family who make these, and other, smaller bowls. They were happy to sell me one and then I just had the "simple" task of lugging it around for the rest of the trip and getting it safely home. (The more sensible members of the group went for the smaller options)
The decoration is in black, red and gold lacquer and depicts the eight sacred symbols of Bhuddism.
Thanks Ingeborg, for hosting the challenge this month
