Alligator guards her nest

It was alligator day today, starting with an hour long tour of part of the central Everglades at Boggy Creek on and airboat. The experience itself was pretty exciting but, despite the heat of the day and most of the gators being out under water, we did get to see this fantastic 8ft long female, boldly guarding her nest. She was very hard to spot and almost completely submerged. I managed to get this shot after she snapped at the boat as we turned; a 25ft airboat apparently not too big a challenge!

After our boat trip we took a trip to Gatorland to see their rescue gators including some rather amazing white alligators.

It was a packed day, ending with the Magic Kingdom electric parade and fireworks. One full day left to go. Tomorrow is a hopefully restful day at Typhoon Lagoon.
