Palmanova

Day three of the adventure continues. A rather long day, made a bit longer by a few navigational errors resulting in 86km rather than the anticipated 70km. (!)
This is the ancient fortified town of Palmanova where we stopped for a welcome ice cream.
The town was planned in the shape of a nine pointed star and is said to be one of the best preserved examples of Renaissance military architecture. You can get an idea of the overall shape of the town here.

Today's extra shows one of the gateways into the town.
