Character...

Introducing Peter Abrahams, a friend and fellow Examiner.

Peter came to Borneo as a VSO student to teach geography in a school far into the jungle. He set up a Scout Troop. One of his boys is now a Government Minister, and many others hold very senior posts in their particular professions.

Anyway, Peter decided that rather than teach geography he would study medicine. He is now Professor of Clinical Anatomy at the University of Warwick, a Fellow of Girton College, Cambridge, and a part time Professor at the University of Grenada where he can enjoy his passions of SCUBA , jungle hiking and lecturing on the history of art. He fills in a couple of days each week as a GP.

Since he arrived with the Exams Team he has been feted by so many of his former pupils in Sarawack who remember him with great affection.

Here he is pictured with Professor Rasit the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine in the University of Malaysia, as he is presenting a scholarship to help young Sarawak doctors do their electives in UK within an exchange programme.

I'm featuring him to show someone who has literally boundless energies, writing papers, championing technology, living life to the full, while doing the equivalent of three jobs. And at a stage in life when most have retired to peaceful seclusion!
