served with the commando/reconnaissance section Z Special Unit and was decorated with the DCM.
was an author, his biography Blood on Borneo a collection of war memoirs
guided tours of Borneo,
owned this diving store and was a scuba diving pioneer 
was a muso!

(There is another side to his story as the events in his memoir were disputed by an Australian military historian but these were refuted by his son. Remarkable none the less.)
