Sidewalk Skylight

When l was a little girl and came into the centre of Leeds l can remember seeing a lot of these glass bricks made into pavement skylights. They were often in front of shops and allowed light into the basement or cellars below ground.
As much as l loved the colours and textures l was always half afraid that the glass would break as l walked over them.
Not so many left around today but this one is near Leeds Bridge at the bottom of Brigatte.
These type of bricks were made in the early 1900s and were reinforced with concrete to make them stronger.
Lovely to see one still around.
Thought it would make a suitable entry for Abstact Thursday as the theme this week is squares or circles in archtecture and SOOC and this is. Thanks Robert (youoregon1) for another great idea.

I'm delighted with the response to yesterday's bee shot which is sitting at the top of page one of the pops. l really didn't expect the reaction it received as it was a quick blip when l was out just pointing and shooting in automatic on my camera l'm very limited for time for this and next week.
May l thank everyone for each comment, star and heart, l appreciate each and every one of them x
