Where the Light Gets In

By DHThomas

A day's work

from california
to the sidewalks of paris
we all need to work

It takes courage (and a bit of swallowed pride, I think) to walk door-to-door asking for work. That is precisely what this man was doing in my office building. He was a jack-of-all-trades and as the current work taking place here is painting, that's what he proposed to do. However, the team of painters was full and he was rejected.

We're probably not at the level of poverty reached in the 1930s after the crisis hit, but more than 5 million unemployed men and women in a country of about 66 million inhabitants is a huge number. We have to invent the jobs of tomorrow, as clearly some of the ones that used to be are disappearing.

Have a great weekend, blippers!
