Breakey Blips

Excitement!

Straight after school, I took the boys on our favourite dog walk down by the river. However, it was a little different after a week of heavy rain, inland, as well as here.
The usually placid Barwon River finally demonstrated to me why there were flood measuring sticks at various spots along its banks as it goes past Geelong. It was measuring 2.7 metres above its usual level when this was taken, and rose to over 3m, before subsiding.
My goodness, the power of the water at a spot where we have picnics on the weir wall!

The boys and dog loved finding alternate paths through the undergrowth as we navigated a flooded landscape until we reached the falls shown in my picture. Then we had to navigate crowds of people who had made their way (more directly) to view the spectacle.
The only thing missing from the crowd was the ice cream van or coffee cart. That was a missed opportunity for someone, I reckon.
