Abbeyness

A day off for me today - because both Mrs42 and Miss42 were off school.

After a lazy morning we went across the bridge to Dunfermline and visited the Abbey and Palace.  Neatly sandwiched by lunch (before) and cake and coffee (afterwards).

The sun was streaming through the stained glass windows and casting lovely bokeh-like coloured splodges on the pillars.

Miss42 was full of questions, as usual.  For example - about Robert the Bruce(who is interred in Dumferline Abbey church): How did he die?  Is any of his body left?  Is he still wrapped in the gold cloth?  Who was his mother?  Where did she live?  When did she die? ... you get the idea.  It was only the promise of a play park that distracted her.
