Sicily

Our whistle stop tour of SE Sicily has begun. Picking up the cart seemed to take an age but then we were away and this was our first stop - the necropolis at Pantalica. There are over 3000 of these graves dating back over 10,000 years. A spectacular setting as much as a sight with a crystal clear river running through the gorge.
On then to Siracusa and our Airbnb accommodation right ob the sea front in Ortigia. Although busy a beautiful spot - Archimedes might not have thought so as he got chopped up by the Romans here. Best was the central square with its Duomo and cafes. An interesting meal with the emphasis on beautifully cooked vegetabes.
