Goat Herd at 4,000m

The 4 remaining fit and healthy of our group set off to meet the sheep and goat herders we are hoping will use the "Fox lights" which flash, near their herds. These should scare the snow leopards away from the domestic animals. The extra photo is of the lady who made us delicious chai (tea) in the highest settlement in the area.

The beautiful walk from Martoli towards Nanda Devi took 9 hours on some pretty tough and loose terrain. We are now installed in Naspanpatti "campsite" at 4225m. This is the last one before tomorrow's final effort to Nanda Devi basecamp where we shall install one of several camera traps that will be placed in other areas before winter by Theo, our naturalist guide. He is installing it near the campsite as a test tonight, who know something other than one of us going to the loo, might trigger it!
