Still more development is under way on Southampton’s waterfront, as the final phase of redevelopment of the city’s Ocean Village takes shape.
 
At present construction work and the attendant tower cranes dominate  this part of the village, but marina owner and operator MDL says it is on schedule for completion next year.
 
The latest development includes a five-star luxury hotel and spa and more stylish waterside apartments.
 
The hotel is being constructed on top of a promontory projecting into the marina and promises a champagne bar and rooftop restaurant commanding views across the Solent.
 
The marina owner reports there will also be 12 duplex apartments on top of the hotel and an additional 82 separate apartments, all with underground car parking as well as a number of restaurants and shops.
 

Ocean Village has always been a popular marina and new modern pontoon berths are planned making room for larger yachts when the marina is reconfigured to coincide with the hotel’s first season.
