Stranger in our midst

It's official - it's the wettest September on record - and I wouldn't betting it will also be the coldest September for very many years.

It's a bit hard to feel the chill when you get these lovely vibrant colours to warm you up.  The lorikeets are hungry - the rain washes the nectar from the flowers, so they are dependent on seeds.  Pigeons are always hungry, no matter the weather.

The wattle birds are also suffering.  They take nectar, and they also eat insects.  But it's too cold for the insects to fly, so I'm giving a bit - a very little bit - of mince to help them out.
