Dry

Even though we had some rain the other night during a thunderstorm, the ground and plants are very dry. These grasses were at the side of a vineyard and the vines in the background are the only plants that are bright green at this time of year. Even with their deep roots some of their leaves droop a bit in the middle of the day. And even the fig trees, which grow in the dampest places next to streams, are looking rather tired today. I think this may be the beginning of an occasional series from now until the rains in the autumn.

(quite nice detail on the grass head in LARGE)

Off gallivanting again tonight with friends to the jazz festival at St Thibéry - it's always fun, with good music, wine and food in the open air.
