STINKY!

Took me all afternoon to remove the neck from this 1950's Framus jazz guitar. This involved a lot of patience & an equal amount of bloody-mindedness.

Water was applied to the joins & I poked away millimetre by millimetre with a very slim palette knife & after awhile some whitish goo started to appear. Feared white glue (polyvinyl acetate) then I sniffed my fingers - eugh - fish glue!!

60 Year old fish glue may stink but it reacts to water far better than PVA...

In the end a couple of bashes with a well-aimed hammer - brute force &  ignorance intelligence did the trick...
