Life through the lens...

Luddenden

Another warm sunny day. Wonderful weather for the beginning of Autumn.
We drove out to Calderdale and the little hamlet of Cottonstones, high up on the hill side.
Lunch was at the Alma Inn, where we had a most delicious homemade meat and potato pie, cooked in a wood fired oven.
Served along with real chunky chips, and mushy peas. The pastry just had little charred bits on the outside.
Will certainly go again. The views were wonderful too.

Then on to the village of Luddenden.
Had a walk up and down the cobbled streets, along the river.
This is where the TV series " In Loving Memory" was filmed back in the 80's.
Thora Hird gave one of her brilliant performances as the undertaker.
We sometimes watch it on ITV 3 and she still makes us laugh.
Lots of photos taken, but I liked this wall hanging which was in the church, showing the history of the village.
