Mora Megalithic Museum

Went for the second time today to Mora's brand new museum - it's free to residents for the first week (though we had to prove we were residents with our document, as the guy didn't recognize us, and said he knew all the residents - but nice enough once he saw where we lived, and waved to us from a car today) and just over the road from our house.

The Alentejo is thick with mega (big) lithic (stone) monuments, and impressive how they've managed to make it so interactive and informative, with relatively few artefacts.

But what really impressed me was the architecture - they've incorporated the old train station and goods shed, linking it all with this corridor, lined with metal plaques, filled with small geometric openings in the shapes of the schist plaques found in the ancient burial chambers. - the light floods through the openings, making patterns everywhere - simply stunning.
