Come Dance With Me

'When the band
begins to leave the stand
And folks start to roam,
As we wing home
Cheek to cheek we'll be
So come on, come on, come on, come on and dance with me!'

Pairing for life the adults in the Gannet colony on Bempton Cliffs in Yorkshire have nearly finished their breeding season. This pair one among 12,000 were dancing cheek to cheek on the precipitous ledge over the North Sea. Lovely to watch and I couldn't help but smile as they manoeuvred  craning their necks, tapping beaks, extending their wings to look just beautiful! Such impressive birds.

It was a 4 hour drive to get there and four hours home scrunched up in the passenger seat of the van with the dogs who just had a whale of a time on the cliff tops in the sunshine. Fortuitous that we had a delivery to do in Bridlington which allowed us to do this today. Excellent. Right going to roll into bed, leaving everything else till the morning.
