Florida's Giant Grasshopper

When I went to look this grasshopper up, that is exactly what it said: Florida's Giant Grasshopper! It's formal name is the Lubber Grasshopper. I have seen them a few times and would never touch them and that is a good thing... I read today (link above) that they contain toxins. Their orange and red color is supposed to be a warning to predators. They are large, about 4" long!! I was watering this crown of thorns when he or she popped out... I think I disturbed nap time . . . I do find them fascinating, hope you enjoy!
