Life through the lens...

Unexpected

My usual Saturday morning  visit to the farm shop, and  Martin couldn't wait to show me this tiny lamb which had arrived unexpectedly two days ago.
How gorgeous, and so tiny.
This is a Soay lamb.
They are descended from a population of feral sheep on the island of Soay in the St Kilda Archipelago way out in the Atlantic Ocean off the northwest coast of Scotland.
More details see here
They were asking for suggestions for a name. Well straightaway I thought of Joey. Will let you know what they have chosen .
Martin is now worried that more of the flock may be pregnant.
He only bought them a few months ago, and obviously no one mentioned it.  Poor mum looks very thin.
I don't think there will be any lamb chops there for a while!
