East Hardwick Telephone Box

As promised I went for a bike ride with Alana after work. Gorgeous weather. We took a ride up Castlesyke Hill and down Sandygate Lane. This phone box is in East Hardwick and could do with a lick of paint.

At the top of Castlesyke Hill is what I thought was a Leper Stone but is in fact a plague stone. Apaprently there was a plague colony nearby and the stone was used to exchange money. The hollow would be filled with vinegar thus sterilising the money placed there in exchange for goods. Anyway I gave Alana a Leper colony story and spent various parts of the rest of the evening convincing her she would not catch leprosy. Her coming out in a bit of a rash when we got home didn't help!
